Note: this is the first in a series of three workshops designed to build on each other. If you would like to attend all three Wednesday workshops, please register for this one as well as Session 2 (July 3) and Session 3 (July 10)

Through a multi-week series of courses funded by HCUAP (Hemispheric Conversations Urban Art Project) and the Pittsburgh Center for Art and Media, HCUAP will provide hands on graffiti art workshops based on the theme of Identity and Belonging.

Participants will gather insights from current and former graffiti writers about how their work connects with concepts of art, identity, culture, and space. They will be exposed to a multitude of painting mediums from markers to spray paint in letter tracing and banner painting, canvas to mini-murals.

In this intensive, Shane Pilster and Max Gonzales of Do What We Love will provide a lens to the how-to's of being a muralist, graffiti artist, and creative entrepreneur.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out, these sessions are designed to ignite your imagination and enhance your skills. No prior experience necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and a desire to learn! All materials provided.

This Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media Artist Residency Project in collaboration with HCUAP (Hemispheric Conversations Urban Art Project) is supported in part by the Arts in Education Partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
