This presentation given by Deborah Beidel from the University of Central Florida will address the development and efficacy of a new model for the treatment of PTSD – an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Much of what is known about the efficacious treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) comes from research funded by the Department of Defense and utilizing populations of veterans and active duty personnel with combat-related PTSD. Yet despite the recent efforts, combat-PTSD remains poorly treated with low rates of treatment efficacy and many barriers to care. Several questions remain. Do we need different treatments? Or do we need to do treatments differently?

The efficacy of this IOP approach for the treatment of combat-related PTSD will be discussed as well as the adaptation of this approach for first responders and survivors of the Pulse Night Club shooting.
