On Monday, July 7, 2025, this half-day symposium, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, will bring together scientists, clinicians, astronauts and space exploration leaders to examine how space health research can transform medicine for both spaceflight and life on Earth.

The event, which will include participation from Pitt’s Center for Space Biomedicine, aims to:

  • showcase pioneering research on the biological impact of spaceflight;

  • highlight the translation of space-derived biomedical innovations to terrestrial health care applications; and

  • catalyze new collaborations across academia, government and industry to drive future-ready science and technology.

The symposium will feature remarks from an exceptional lineup of thought leaders. These experts will address the promising future of space biomedicine, from AI-powered diagnostics and radiation countermeasures to organoid models, synthetic biology and commercial space innovation. The event will also highlight Pitt’s expanding role in global space health leadership through research missions, educational initiatives and strategic partnerships.
