About this Event

Abdul-Hye Miah, formerly of the London Metropolitan Police and now Senior Lecturer at the University of Northampton will draw on several decades of experience in counterterrorism at “Scotland Yard.” He will discuss the recent race riots in the United Kingdom and provide relevant insights for combating political violence, managing civil unrest, and strengthening social cohesion in a polarized environment.
Abdul became a university lecturer following a 30-year career as a police officer with the London Metropolitan Police Service where he served in a range of operational roles including Counter Terrorism, Hostage & Crisis Negotiation, Anti-Corruption, Professional Standards, Special Branch and Neighborhood Policing. After 9/11, he was asked to serve as a liaison with local Muslim communities, essential service for which he was labeled a “traitor” by some. Abdul later became one of Britain’s top hostage negotiators. Come, snack, and learn from one of the best practitioners in the business.
