Rebekah Apple\, MA\, DHSc\n\nAbstract: The approach to clinical ethics h
as evolved over time as a reflection of medical and technological advancem
ent as well as continued philosophical thought and changing predominant so
cial mores. An understanding of how bioethics became integrated into clin
ical medicine is necessary to recognize appropriate application and releva
nce of bioethical principles. This discussion will highlight landmark eve
nts influencing the bioethics community\, functions of ethics committees\,
and common goals and practices of high-performing committees. \n\n11:30

ogistics of different types of health care environments necessitate that e

challenges will enable ethics committee members to strategically plan eff
orts that best fit the environment they are in. Additionally\, we will ex
amine the perceptions of involving the ethics committee and discuss strate
gies to destigmatize bringing areas of concern to the ethics committee. F
