Register for the August session.
Access to education is a significant priority for the University of Pittsburgh. Many of the programs at Pitt to address accessibility and affordability support our at-promise student populations, including first-generation, income-eligible, underrepresented minority, exploratory, transfer, rural, international, and those in need of academic intervention. It is imperative that Pitt continues to address the long-term persistence, graduation, career outcomes, and experiences of our undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education. Dr. April Belback, Associate Vice Provost for Student Success and Advising, leads and implements an institutional collaborative vision for holistic advising, mentoring and student success by connecting campus innovators, advisors, faculty, and students.
When She Thrives is dedicated to equipping single mothers to move their families from poverty to prosperity through advocacy, education, personal, and professional development. When She Thrives envisions a world where ALL families thrive through access to health, wealth, and success.
Pittsburgh Scholar House is a social impact organization composed of a community of experts with both the lived and technical experience needed to help single parents provide economic security for their children. Our partners have extensive experience in human services, community and economic development, higher education, early learning access, and philanthropy, which allows Pittsburgh Scholar House to empower families as they increase their economic mobility and improve their quality of life.
About Engagement Intersections
Engagement Intersections is a new series hosted by the Office of Engagement and Community Affairs (ECA) that focuses on highlighting and amplifying engaged scholarship as well as the teams that allow the University of Pittsburgh to be a visible partner to the region. Engaged scholarship seeks to discover new knowledge through activities that collaboratively generate, exchange, or apply academic and community knowledge and practices.
Each session is designed for the presenters to highlight their community-engaged research and partnerships, share their process for design and implementation, and engage colleagues across disciplines in active conversation on the opportunities and improvements that might make those partnerships even more impactful.
Sessions take place every other month on the Pittsburgh campus. Learn more about Engagement Intersections on the ECA website.
