The Search for Time Accuracy: A variable Time-stepping Algorithm for Computational Fluid Dynamics.

Dahlquist, Liniger, and Nevanlinna proposed a two-step time-stepping scheme for systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) a long time ago. The little-explored variable time- stepping scheme has advantages in numerical simulations for its fine properties such as unconditional G-stability and second-order accuracy. I have simplified its implementation by refactorization process and designed some adaptivity algorithms for this scheme. In addition, I have applied this method to some fluid models such as unsteady Stokes/Darcy model and Navier Stokes equations and finished stability and error analysis.
