About this Event
The Department of Informatics and Networked Systems (DINS) is proud to champion a global effort to promote awareness of online safety and privacy, Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This year’s theme, ‘If you Connect it, Protect it,’ dives into the importance of keeping connected devices safe and secure from outside influence.
Join the Pitt Cybersecurity community by signing up for the DINS Cybersecurity Competition.
What is it?
You will have remote access to three scenarios focused on protecting and defending an enterprise infrastructure: Firewall Update, Malicious Malware, and Bringing Passwords Up To Snuff. You get three days to test your skills and prove your cybersecurity abilities! In each challenge, participants must meet objectives in order to successfully complete the challenge. The competition will be made available through the NICE Challenge platform. Registered participants will receive an email with directions to login a few days before the competition.
When is it?
The online competition starts on Friday 10/23 and ends on Sunday 10/25 (11 pm EST). During the entirety of these three days, participants will have access to three defense challenges.
Registration closes on Tuesday 10/20 at 5 pm. You must register using your Pitt email address.
What can you win?
All participants who complete at least one challenge will receive a certificate to include in their professional portfolio. And, we will give a gift certificate to the University of Pittsburgh’s Book Center to those who place first ($100), second ($50), and third ($25).
