About this Event
230 S Bouquet St, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
https://www.cue.pitt.edu/events/food-thoughtIn 2019, to address the shortage of teachers of color in Pennsylvania and the high attrition rates among existing teachers—amidst a national teacher shortage—the Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium (PEDC) developed the Pennsylvania Culturally Relevant and Sustaining Education (CRSE) Competencies. Rooted in research, these competencies highlight the critical role of culturally relevant leaders, teachers, and professionals in shaping equitable and inclusive educational experiences for young learners. Despite facing resistance and misunderstanding in recent years, this presentation will explore the future of CRSE and discuss actionable ways to advance this essential work in a time when equity in education is increasingly under attack.
