AbstractWi-Fi sensing offers a remote, non-invasive, and cost-effective means of monitoring patients and gathering health information. In addition to monitoring vital signs, this technology can also be applied to presence detection, position and movement identification, subject recognition, among other uses. Despite its wide range of potential applications, there is a lack of Channel State Information (CSI) datasets that cover multiple activities and include participants’ phenotype information to help develop, test, and compare new solutions. There is a clear need in the literature for the creation of a robust, publicly accessible Wi-Fi CSI datasets. In this talk, I will introduce the MídiaCom eHealth CSI dataset, which comprises diverse Wi-Fi CSI data from over 100 individuals engaged in different activities within a controlled environment. I will also delve into potential CSI applications that use this dataset. Challenges and perspectives for future research are also discussed.  Furthermore, I will highlight some US-Brazil collaborative research opportunities.

BioCélio Albuquerque received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ/Brazil), in 1993 and 1995, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in information and computer science from the University of California at Irvine (UCI) in 1997 and 2000. From 2000 to 2003, he served as the networking architect for Magis Networks, designing high-speed wireless medium access control. Since 2004, he has been with Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), where he is currently a full Professor at the Computer Science Department and co-chairs the MídiaCom Lab. He deployed the first Wireless Mesh Network in Brazil in 2005 and this research has been published in journals and conferences such as IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE Network, IEEE Wireless Communications, IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials and many others. He holds a CNPq researcher scholarship and has experience leading various projects sponsored by RNP, CAPES, CNPq, FAPERJ, ANEEL and with the industry. His research interests include multimedia distribution, wireless networks, and security.
