About this Event
The Research Equity and Community Health (REACH) Health Equity Seminar Series welcomes Aneesh Ramaswamy, PhD, Assistant Director of Innovation Programs at Pitt's Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) & Office of Multidisciplinary Innovations in the Health Sciences (MDI), as its featured speaker on October 16th. Dr. Ramaswamy will be presenting a talk titled, Pitching Your Science. This seminar is designed to help you convert scholarly descriptions of your work to clear, vivid writing and presentations that accurately convey the purpose and promise of your science to a variety of audiences. We will talk through inspiring curiosity within your specific audience, give an overview of the “Hourglass Method” for science communication, and address any concerns you have with science communication techniques for your presentation style.
Dr. Ramaswamy has a PhD in Bioengineering from Pitt, working on aortic aneurysms, atherosclerosis, and other cardiovascular disorders. He has spent time teaching at Purdue University, MIT, and Pitt, and has worked on technologies that have spun out of both Pitt and Purdue. Additionally, he's spent time as a scientific journal copy editor, and as a scientific consultant on commercial biomedical marketing projects. He has been working on commercial funding and science research communication at Pitt since 2017.
REACH invites investigators and research staff of all career stages and health equity research experience to participate in our ongoing monthly seminar. Because our virtual seminars are designed to foster active participation and discussion, we strongly encourage attendees to turn their cameras on and join in the conversation.
