Contemplative Pedagogy for Student Well-being

Wednesday, September 28, 2022 10:00am to 11:00am

As we begin the semester and consider ways to support students' emotional well-being, faculty are finding success in integrating contemplative practices into their teaching (Barbezat & Bush, 2013). This workshop will provide an overview of contemplative pedagogy and its overall benefits to student learning, particularly emphasizing students' emotional well-being. Step-by-step guidance and space for dialogue and questions around integrating contemplative practices into our teaching will be offered.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define contemplative pedagogy
  • Summarize its benefits to students’ emotional well-being
  • Develop a contemplative activity specific to their course
