Consent forms should be written with language that  facilitates the prospective participant's understanding of the reasons why one might or might not want to participate in research. In support of this objective, the Pitt IRB advises consent forms should be written no higher than an 8th grade level.  This presentation will be review basic, actionable strategies to improve the readability of consent forms. 

Anyone who is involved in writing consent documents may benefit by attending.
