About this Event
Join Dr. Chris Bonneau, Professor of Political Science and President of the University Senate, and his guest, Dr. Justin Wert, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Oklahoma, for a new Coffee Shop Talk on “Freak Show: Inside Tiger King”.
“Tiger King – Murder, Mayhem and Madness” is an American true crime documentary miniseries about the life of zookeeper Joe Exotic, and the series focuses on the small but interconnected world of big cat conservationists.
Sounds pretty tame, right? Wrong!
Once you throw in the overall cultish devotion to the big cats, accusations of abusing and exploiting wild animals with conservationist Carole Baskin, the mysterious disappearance of Carole's second husband, Joe’s murder-for-hire plot against her, Joe’s marriage to not one but two men, and additional over-the-top characters throughout the series, what you have is an amazingly eccentric and wild television viewing experience! Oh, and we haven't even gotten to the fact that Joe was an Oklahoma gubernatorial candidate!
Join us as we break down this popular Netflix original series and discuss everything and anything “Tiger King”!
