About this Event
Join Dr. Chris Bonneau, Professor of Political Science and President of the University Senate, and two of his students, Sydney Massenberg and Kaelin Miller, as they engages us in a discussion about the Pitt Prison Education Project (PPEP).
Prison education has been found to be highly effective at both lowering recidivism rates as well as securing gainful employment for individuals released from prison. Formed in 2016, PPEP has been teaching courses at the State Correctional Institute at Fayette (SCI Fayette) and Somerset (SCI-Somerset). Taught at the prison, these courses are composed of both incarcerated (inside) students and traditional (outside) undergraduates.
Pitt can and should be a regional leader in this field. These programs have been transformational for all involved. Join us to learn more and discuss this program in detail.
