Abstract: This conversation will reflect on the intersection between clinical ethics and hospital chaplaincy. After briefly delineating the different roles of the two services, these colleagues will examine case studies to illustrate the ways in which the two practices and disciplines often align but sometimes diverge. Are there instances in which the spiritually supportive course of action and the ethically justifiable one are different? In this more informal conversation, the presenters will share how they've collaborated and challenged each other as they support patients, families, and staff in difficult situations.
Continuing medical education credit will be available.
The Center’s Healthcare and Religion Lecture Series is co-sponsored by the Palliative and Supportive Institute, the Department of Religious Studies, and the Jewish Studies Program
