This opportunity is for any Pitt student at any level to step in and learn about the concepts, disciplines, and frameworks underpinning innovative and entrepreneurial action. During the series, you will meet and hear from individuals who have created their own opportunities to be the change they want to see in the world. You will also find yourself surrounded by like-minded, highly-motivated individuals as part of your semester cohort.

Students who enroll and complete the series (including all participation and assignment-based requirements) will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to join the next cohort of the Big Idea Center’s formal recognition opportunity – The ChangeMaker Scholar Program.

Who can join?

Any currently enrolled Pitt student (undergraduate through postdoc) of any discipline who wants to learn how to create and impact change.

What does it cost?

This program is free to Pitt students. The only “cost” is your time and effort!

Spring 2025 BIC ChangeMaker Series Session Dates:

• January 30 (3:30 – 5:30 P.M.): “Becoming a Changemaker:  Where the Journey Begins and Where it Can Lead”
• February 13 (3:30 – 5:30 P.M.): “Seek First to Understand: The Power of Curiosity and Empathic Inquiry”
• March 13 (3:30 – 5:30 P.M.): “Creating and Delivering Value: Defining Your ‘Why’ and the Mechanisms to Implement Change and Impact”
• March 27 (3:30 – 5:30 P.M.): “Human Centricity in Creative Problem Solving and Creating a Culture of Change”
• April 10 (3:30 – 5:30 P.M.): Series wrap-up – debrief, next-steps, and Certificate of Completion* presentation

*Please note: This program is a 5-part education opportunity that requires active participation and completion of course-related content. In order to receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to participate in the ChangeMaker Scholar recognition program, each individual must:

• Attend ALL sessions
• Actively participate as part of each session
• Come to each session prepared by engaging with the provided resources (via Canvas) on each topic
• Complete a brief reflection on each session (250 words each, 4 total) to receive credit for attending
