The work of trans artist Greer Lankton, from her artist’s book Medical Magic to her elaborate, unsettling dolls, explored and challenged ideas about the body and self-invention.
In this workshop, we’ll visit the Lankton exhibition in the University Art Gallery, and staff from the University Counseling Center will facilitate conversation about the ways we perceive ourselves and others. Then we’ll get hands-on to create dolls of our own.
No previous art experience is necessary to participate. Because of the nature of this workshop, space is limited.
This workshop is presented in conjunction with the University Art Gallery’s Greer Lankton: Science Fictions exhibition and in partnership with the UAG and the University Counseling Center.
Photo: Greer Lankton, “Ellen and Freddie” (c. 1980s), Fabric, acrylic, wire, paint, glass, and matte medium. Grey Art Gallery. Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody.
