Title: Biostatistics and Bioethics: Irrevocably intertwined
Abstract: Anyone involved in medical experimentation on human beings (or animals, for that matter) will inevitably face ethical dilemmas. Regulatory and funding agency requirements, and ethical guidelines for human research, leave room for debate on the approach to specific research efforts. In this presentation I will discuss some of the most contentious ethical issues I have had to wrestle with during my time at the NIH, the FDA and U Penn.
