Big Idea Center (3601 Forbes Ave, Loeffler Building)

Have an idea and want to explore its potential? Thinking of competing in the Kuzneski Innovation Cup or one of our other larger competitions and want to strengthen your idea? Plan on attending Big Idea Blitz, a 24-hour+ experiential workshop opportunity where you can learn how to apply key innovation and entrepreneurship concepts to your current, new, or future ideas! This program will consist of opening night elevator pitches, a Saturday “Bootcamp” with Big Idea Center staff and entrepreneurs in residence, and a final live pitch round with guest judges on the following Friday. Teams will receive valuable insight and feedback from industry professionals that they can take with them into future competitive environments.

The workshop will include:

  • Elevator pitches and networking
  • Engagement with key idea development topics
  • 1-on-1 coaching and feedback with Big Idea Center staff and entrepreneurs in residence

This program is an opportunity for students to engage with innovation and entrepreneurship in a workshop built for beginners over the course of 24 hours. Students who perform well in Blitz usually continue through to our larger programs, such as the Kuzneski Innovation Cup. Blitz is a great way to grow confidence in an idea through engagement with key concepts and pitch opportunities in a risk-free environment.

Blitz participants will:

  • work on their idea in a concentrated capacity and push the limits of what they originally thought possible
  • use the feedback they received in this program to achieve success in larger competitions such as the Kuzneski Innovation Cup and Randall Family Big Idea Competition
  • learn the basics of entrepreneurship and pitching during our Bootcamp on day 2

Application deadline for Big Idea Blitz is October 13 (11:59 P,M.); apply at https://www.bigidea.pitt.edu/programs/signature-programs/big-idea-blitz/
