Archiving and Preservation Workshop for Hispanic Heritage Month

Are you concerned about the preservation of your old papers, photographs, or even files on your computer? How can you ensure that this material will be around for future generations? 

The University of Pittsburgh Library System’s Eduardo Lozano Latin American Collection and Archives & Special Collections department are interested in supporting you in your effort to preserve your family, organizational, and personal archives! We are holding a virtual archiving and preservation workshop. 

Attend to hear Librarian for Latin American Studies, Martha Mantilla discuss the importance of preserving the history of Latin American communities and see a selection of Hispanic/Latinx archives from our holdings including records of Cuban Studiesthe preeminent journal for scholarly work on Cuba, and manuscripts from Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges. Librarians from Archives & Special Collections will give tips to help you preserve your own personal records for years to come. Feel free to bring a scrapbook, photograph, letter, or other important item from your own collections to share with other attendees on screen! 

We will be happy to provide advice and guidance to attendees interested in donating their materials to an institutional archive.
