An Interfaith Vigil for Sri Lanka

This is a past event.

Pittsburgh Buddhist Center and Southwest Pennsylvania’s interfaith community will gather for a vigil Wednesday evening at Heinz Chapel in Oakland responding to Sunday’s bombings in Sri Lanka, which killed nearly 300 people at churches in the midst of Easter worship and at city hotels.

Sponsoring organizations include Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania, Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, Carlow University, Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network, Muslim Association of Greater Pittsburgh, JCC Pittsburgh’s Center for Loving Kindness, Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, Temple Sinai, All for All, Repair the World Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh Area Pax Christi.

The vigil will include prayers for peace and interfaith understanding from a variety of religious leaders, aiming to provide consolation to Pittsburgh’s Sri Lankan community and to reiterate our region’s commitment to interfaith harmony and peace. An offering/donation at the service will be sent to Sri Lanka to assist survivors and rebuild the damaged churches.

Wednesday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
