About this Event
Alternative Spring Break is happening March 2 - 9, 2025! During this trip a select group of up to 15 students will engage in an immersive service experience, with a particular emphasis on sustainability. Housing, meals, and transportation are all provided by the Office of PittServes. This trip will be in partnership with a Pennsylvania community group with the service project being grounded in sustainability. While the final destination is not confirmed, outreach with multiple organizations in the Pittsburgh area is underway.
Activities will consist of whatever these communities need of us. Potential activities include trail stewardship, habitat enhancement, and education. After the day of volunteering, we will meet with a local community member to better understand the site, its history, and its culture. At the end of each day, the group will have time to eat, relax, and enjoy the rest of the night. On Wednesday, we will have a day of recreation. We will explore the area as tourists rather than volunteers, hopefully leading us toward a deep appreciation for the land and those who inhabit it.
If you are interested, please fill out this form by November 4th. Please note this doesn’t guarantee your participation and you can withdraw your participation anytime up to November 10th. Once you are confirmed eligible, you will be sent an interview date.
