Pitt's Afropop Ensemble performs music in genres resulting from the fusion of African and Western music elements. Under the direction of Dr Ben Barson, the ensemble examines the interconnections between African music and the music of the African diaspora such as reggae and jazz, exploring musical elements of Afropop including call and response, repetition, polyphony, improvisation and syncopation.
FREE, registration required.
University of Pittsburgh campuses are closed to the general public, but open to University members and registered guests. University members can register a guest online. Registered guests will receive a confirmation email that they are required to present, along with a photo ID, upon arrival on campus. By arriving on campus, guests are agreeing to follow the health rules that the University has in place at the time and are affirming that they are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
Streaming will be available to the general public via the Music at Pitt YouTube channel.
