DESCRIPTION:Academic freedom and freedom of speech have a complex historica
 l relationship. University autonomy\, faculty rights to teach and research
  and espouse political views outside the classroom have been seen as “gi
 vens”. Present-day conflict between the right to speak and the impact of
  the speech act is under active scrutiny. Join University of Pittsburgh fa
 culty Sheila Vélez Martinez (Law)\, Kristin Kanthak (Political Science)\,
  and Carnegie Mellon professor Jonathan Caulkins (Heinz College) for a dis
 cussion of these pertinent and timely topics. Moderated by Mario Browne\, 
 Associate Dean for Equity\, Engagement\, and Justice\; Associate Professor
 \, Pharmacy and Therapeutics\, School of Pharmacy\, University of Pittsbur
