A Cookie Cutter Tells a Story with Darlene Farrell- Nationality Rooms Programs Virtual Lunch Series

Darlene Farrell is a Pittsburgh native, retired Family and Consumer Science educator and cookie cutter collector.  Darlene’s collection has given her the opportunity to grow professionally, travel, connect with students and engage adults in learning. Her cookie cutter collection surpasses 20,000 in number.  Darlene is a past president and Hall of Fame recipient of the Cookie Cutter Collectors Club, a national organization. Shaler Area School District was the home of her 32-year career in education.

Her students learned about the United States Presidential Inauguration of Wiilliam Jefferson Clinton through a metal outline saxophone cutter that had its’ beginning in Pittsburgh, PA.  Close examination of marbleized plastic cookie cutters revealed how the Korean Conflict affected manufacturing in the United States.  Learn the interesting stories behind what these cookie cutters represent.
