Philippine Nationality Room Dedication

After more than 10 years of planning, fund-raising and construction, the 31st Nationality Room in the Cathedral of Learning on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh, will be formally dedicated. 

The room, set in the style of the Filipino “Bahay na Bato” (House of Stone), was designed by architects Warren Bulseco and Manila-based Poppi Laudico from the Philippines using the Quema House from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Vigan in the Philippines for inspiration in designing the room.

Festivities include: 

  • Dedication ceremony
    2-3 p.m.           
    Heinz Memorial Chapel 
     
  • Free public program featuring Filipino music, dance performances and food
    3-5 p.m.           
    Cathedral of Learning Commons Room 
     
  • Free tours of the Nationality Rooms
    3-5 p.m.
    Cathedral of Learning
     
  • Catholic Mass
    5-6 p.m.           
    Heinz Memorial Chapel
     
  • Dedication dinner
    6-11 p.m.           
    Alumni Hall, Connelly Ballroom

    Open to all; tickets $75 each
