Department of Critical Care Medicine

As the nation’s first stand-alone department of critical care medicine, we have grown into a research powerhouse with globally-acclaimed investigators focusing on sepsis, resuscitation, brain injury, organ dysfunction, medical ethics, health policy and health services. Our faculty, staff and fellows deliver care to critically ill and acutely injured adult and pediatric patients at ICUs across six UPMC hospitals.
